2011 Dodge Challenger – Quarter Mile or Road Race?

Dodge is turning up the heat with their 2011 Dodge Challenger. To compete with the likes of the 2011 Chevy Camaro Z28 and SS, and 2011 Ford Mustang GT, Dodge is releasing their 2011 Challenger SRT with a 6.4 liter Hemi V8 with 475 hp and 460 torque, brembo brakes, updated and performance based steering and suspension systems, a performance display, and the SRT Track Experience Program (a full date of professional instructors teaching you to push the limits of your SRT).

With the Brembo brakes and suspension upgrades, it seems that Dodge is getting more concerned about the skidpad numbers for those who have complained the car doesn’t handle as good as the 2011 Ford Mustang GT.

Besides the steering wheel, the interior of the 2011 Challenger is much better than the 2011 Camaro, and a notch above the 2011 Mustang GT (although if Ford stopped with the retro dash gauges, I’d think the Mustang GT has the best interior).

The 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT could be a much better car if they simply give it a weight reduction, give it better 1/4 mile gearing, and make it different than the Camaro and Mustang. My suggestion? Release a smaller displacement Hemi V8 with a factory turbo or a factory supercharger. Let the aftermarket go nuts and release parts that increase power and performance as easy as possible. Before you know it, the 2011 Challenger will be the next Supra of Youtube.
