Ford Super Duty F250, F-350, F-450, F-550 Diesels Add 16.4 HP with K&N Air Intake Kit

Ford met the heavy duty truck buyer market with its Super-Duty Line. Their stronger-than-ever F-250 and F-350 diesel have more payload and towing capacity. Ford’s new F-450 PowerStroke diesel V8 pickups have a gigantic 24,000 lb. towing capacity. Take a look at our 57-2576 features video to see dyno testing in progress.

K&N has developed an air intake system (57-2576) for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4 liter V8 Diesel engine, the 2008 to 2010 Ford F-350 Super Duty with a 6.4 liter V8 Diesel engine, the 2008 to 2010 Ford F-450 Super Duty with a 6.4 liter V8 Diesel engine, and the 2008 to 2010 Ford F-550 Super Duty with a 6.4 liter V8 Diesel engine.

K&N dynamometer testing shows a 16.4 horsepower gain at 2600 rpm and a 25.73 lbft gain of torque @ 2500 rpm. This is more than an 8 percent increase in torque compared to the original intake for improved towing and passing power.

The K&N air intake tube was designed and shaped to provide the maximum amount of horsepower while staying within the factory parameters for this twin turbo application. There is no need to re-program when you run our K&N air intake system. The 57-2576 makes use of the factory mass air sensor and electric filter minder.

The lifetime replacement K&N air filter (RU-5172) is washable and reusable. It is made of six layers of cotton gauze for maximum surface area and filtration. With proper care diesel motors typically last longer than gas motors. Our K&N air filter ensures you will get the protection your diesel motor needs. The impressive, 76mm (three-inch) MegaPower RR system is available for both coupe and sedan models and is manufactured of high-quality, T-304 stainless steel. Each MegaPower RR Exhaust is CNC mandrel bent and robotically TIG welded to ensure proper fitment and a consistent finish. Mandrel bending allows the tubing to maintain a constant diameter throughout for uninterrupted flow. How to install Hawk Brake Pads

• Install brake pads properly. Be sure pads are securely positioned in the caliper.
• Flush system with fresh brake fluid.
• Check all hydraulic parts for excess wear and tear.
• Check disc for proper thickness, parallelism, and lateral runout.
• Check disc for scoring or grooves over .012”depth. If either applies, resurfacing is required.
• If discs do not need resurfacing, then contamination from the previous brake pads must be removed. Sand discs with 130 grit sandpaper using moderate pressure. Use soap and water to clean discs’ surface after sanding and machining. Discs should be free and clear of oil, grease, and brake fluid.
• Inspect calipers for freedom of movement. Lubricate where necessary.

1. After installing new brake pads, make 6 to 10 stops from approximately 30-35 mph applying moderate pressure.
2. Make an additional 2 to 3 hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 mph.
3. DO NOT DRAG BRAKES!
4. Allow 15 minutes for brake system to cool down.
5. After step 4 your new pads are ready for use.

Correct brake pad break-in (bedding) is important to assure quality braking performance over the life of the pad. This procedure allows the rubbing surface of the brake pad to be brought to temperatures, creating a transfer-film layer of friction material to be applied to the rotor surface. This allows the brake pad material to rub against itself rather than the bare rotor. This increases the stopping performance of the brake pad and can reduce pad and rotor wear.

There are a number of reasons why a person can experience brake noise. Sometimes brake squeal can be an indicator that there is a problem. Maintenance is required if you experience brake squeal for any of the following reasons:

• Lack of friction material (brakes need to be replaced)
• Loose fitting brake in the caliper
• Loose fitting or missing brake hardware (i.e. shims, anti-rattle clips)
• Loose lug nuts or caliper hardware
• Debris caught between the rotor and the surface of the brake pad
• Heat cracked or worn rotors
• Uneven finish on resurfaced rotors

Sometimes a user may experience brake noise when no maintenance is required. We call these NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) issues. Brake squeal is typically caused by vibration between the brake pads, rotors, and brake calipers. Some brands of semi-metallic brakes are more likely to experience brake squeal due to the metallic ingredients in the brake pads. Hawk Performance has a great reputation for being a low noise, high performance pad.

To prevent brake squeal, choose Hawk Performance high performance disc brake pads as your upgrade over other aftermarket brake suppliers. The next best steps you can take to avoid having noisy brakes are:

• Turn / machine the rotors (machining off a small layer of the brake rotor to make it smooth again)
• Wash and dry the rotor to rid of debris
• Install the pads securely and according to instruction
• Properly bed-in the pads according to instruction
• Apply a thin layer of a silicone compound called anti-squeal brake lube on the back of the brake pads
