Hawk HPS Brake Pads – High Performance Street Brake Compound – Superior Stopping Power
HPS – High Performance Street disc brake pads are world renowned for increasing stopping power on your street legal vehicle. Increasing the performance of your vehicles braking system is easy when you choose Hawk Performance’s HPS braking compound. This unique Ferro-Carbon formula was developed for street performance using the safety and quality of Aerospace and Motorsports severe-duty friction technology.

The High Performance Street compound offers a higher coefficient of friction over stock brake pads and can provide you 20-40% more stopping power and higher resistance to brake fade than most standard replacement pads. Less fade means you will have a highly durable brake pad with less brake dust.

Hawk Ceramic Brake Pads
Hawk Performance offers a premium, high performance, ultra-low dust, low noise compound called Performance Ceramic.

Performance Ceramic is engineered to reduce brake NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness), creating a quieter performing brake pad. Furthermore, the ceramic brake pad formula has a linear friction profile that allows your ABS brake system to work more effectively. With Performance Ceramic you can expect reduced brake pad wear, lower dust output levels and a rotor-friendly brake pad.

Performance Ceramic – quiet, clean & fast stopping!

Hawk HP Plus Brake Pads – Autocross & Track Brake Compound
Hawk Performance’s HP Plus brake pad compound is ideal for Autocross and Track Day drivers looking for a high performance race compound that can take the heat of the track and get you home safely without having to change the pads.

HP Plus utilizes a unique Ferro-Carbon, high-tech friction material that was developed and manufactured for sport driving in autocross, Solo II and “track day” applications. The Ferro-Carbon formulation offers lower wear rates and higher torque values than other competitive materials.

Extremely high coefficient of friction makes HP Plus the perfect upgrade over stock for high performance streetcars used in autocross competition or that experience repetitive, heavy braking.

Hawk LTS Brake Pads – Light Truck and SUV Brake Compound – A Better Way to Stop Your Truck and SUV!
Hawk Performance has applied their severe-duty brake pad friction technology to the braking demands of trucks and SUVs. Heavier vehicles with larger brake systems are more likely to experience higher temperatures, requiring a brake pad that has excellent heat dissipation characteristics.

The new LTS (Light Truck & SUV) Brake Pad Compound utilizes Hawk Performance’s established and proven Ferro-Carbon formulation to provide superior stopping power for full-sized light trucks, SUVs and vans without noise and dust.

Hawk Super Duty Brake Pads – Severe-Duty Truck Brake Compound – Extreme Braking for Extreme Payloads
SD – Hawk’s SuperDuty Ferro-Carbon material is engineered for severe-duty professional truck fleets and trucks and SUVs towing heavy loads. This material offers unmatched braking performance under high inertia and/or repetitive braking applications.

To drive safely with heavy payloads it is critical to have brakes that operate properly. Heavy fleet trucks and light trucks and SUVs carrying heavy tow loads experience high braking temperatures. Higher temperatures contribute to premature brake pad and rotor wear. Hawk Performance’s SuperDuty product is a sophisticated material that has an extremely high coefficient of friction designed to provide maximum truck and SUV stopping power with excellent high temperature heat dissipation.

Upgrade your fleet or tow vehicle’s braking performance with Hawk Performance’s SuperDuty, Sever-Duty compound!

How to install Hawk Brake Pads

• Install brake pads properly. Be sure pads are securely positioned in the caliper.
• Flush system with fresh brake fluid.
• Check all hydraulic parts for excess wear and tear.
• Check disc for proper thickness, parallelism, and lateral runout.
• Check disc for scoring or grooves over .012”depth. If either applies, resurfacing is required.
• If discs do not need resurfacing, then contamination from the previous brake pads must be removed. Sand discs with 130 grit sandpaper using moderate pressure. Use soap and water to clean discs’ surface after sanding and machining. Discs should be free and clear of oil, grease, and brake fluid.
• Inspect calipers for freedom of movement. Lubricate where necessary.

1. After installing new brake pads, make 6 to 10 stops from approximately 30-35 mph applying moderate pressure.
2. Make an additional 2 to 3 hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 mph.
4. Allow 15 minutes for brake system to cool down.
5. After step 4 your new pads are ready for use.

Correct brake pad break-in (bedding) is important to assure quality braking performance over the life of the pad. This procedure allows the rubbing surface of the brake pad to be brought to temperatures, creating a transfer-film layer of friction material to be applied to the rotor surface. This allows the brake pad material to rub against itself rather than the bare rotor. This increases the stopping performance of the brake pad and can reduce pad and rotor wear.

There are a number of reasons why a person can experience brake noise. Sometimes brake squeal can be an indicator that there is a problem. Maintenance is required if you experience brake squeal for any of the following reasons:

• Lack of friction material (brakes need to be replaced)
• Loose fitting brake in the caliper
• Loose fitting or missing brake hardware (i.e. shims, anti-rattle clips)
• Loose lug nuts or caliper hardware
• Debris caught between the rotor and the surface of the brake pad
• Heat cracked or worn rotors
• Uneven finish on resurfaced rotors

Sometimes a user may experience brake noise when no maintenance is required. We call these NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) issues. Brake squeal is typically caused by vibration between the brake pads, rotors, and brake calipers. Some brands of semi-metallic brakes are more likely to experience brake squeal due to the metallic ingredients in the brake pads. Hawk Performance has a great reputation for being a low noise, high performance pad.

To prevent brake squeal, choose Hawk Performance high performance disc brake pads as your upgrade over other aftermarket brake suppliers. The next best steps you can take to avoid having noisy brakes are:

• Turn / machine the rotors (machining off a small layer of the brake rotor to make it smooth again)
• Wash and dry the rotor to rid of debris
• Install the pads securely and according to instruction
• Properly bed-in the pads according to instruction
• Apply a thin layer of a silicone compound called anti-squeal brake lube on the back of the brake pads
